Who Benefits

Houston TSCPA Foundation

Becoming a CPA requires extra hours in addition to the typical four year program. Because most scholarships only cover the first four years, many students choose not to pursue the CPA designation due to a lack of funds. The Houston CPA Society leadership has continuously prioritized programs that help ensure that the future of the CPA designation is bright. The TSCPA Foundation works to provide 5th year Accounting Students with scholarship money that allows them to continue their education. Every year, the Foundation provides a minimum of 30 scholarships worth $3,500 to students from the 8 Houston area colleges and universities that offer a 5th year Accounting program: University of Houston, University of Houston - Downtown, University of Houston – Clear Lake, Prairie View A&M, University of St. Thomas, Houston Baptist University, Sam Houston State University, & Texas Southern University.

CPAs Helping Schools

CPAs Helping Schools supports PreK-12 educational endeavors in our Houston CPA Society 13-county membership area. Last year, the Society gave almost $70,000 in grants to 37 different educational programs. CHS also provides educational support through donations to organizations such as Junior Achievement, Houston Achievement Place, Fund for Teachers, Communities in Schools, and others as the needs or requests are made.

Scholarship Endowment

A very generous gift allowed the Houston TSCPA Foundation to form the Scholarship Endowment – a permanent endowment that will allow the Foundation to fund scholarships for students indefinitely. The “Sharing the Legacy” campaign has a goal of raising 2 million dollars over the next three years in order to establish the permanent endowment. When the goal is reached, this endowment will be one of the largest in Texas for Accounting scholarships.
